One of the problems that archeologists face when they are attempting to identify a biblical location is that they have only descriptions to go by.

When the town stays inhabited, it's easier, but it's not a sure guarantee that the location is the same as its historical counterpart. The question can be raised: Are the towns we think of today the same towns that existed in the Torah?

IsraelExperts has studied the research on the location of ancient Modiin, home of the Maccabees, in order to discover its location. Was it a town now known as Mydia ? Was it a hill now known as Titura Hill ? Was it a town now known as   Um el Umdan ? Perhaps we will never know. That does not stop us however, from examining them all.

Having a good laugh with Jewish Humor

Jewish humor has a long history. Dating back to the days of the Talmud, Jewish humor has evolved. According to author Hillel Halkin, the self deprecating jokes that are often heard today are traced back to the medieval influence of Arabic traditions on Hebrew literature.

Age and the Dead Sea

An old Jewish grandfather was taking care of his two young grandchildren. One of the children asked him how old he and his grandmother were. The grandfather looked at his grandson and sighed.
"We're so old that when we were your age, the Dead Sea was only sick, not dead."

Take a look at some more great Israel jokes, and a history of Jewish humor.
